Rich and Aesthetic Interaction: Learning through doing
活動時間:
10/24 (六) ~ 10/25 (日) 兩天
活動地點:
台科大RB-401 RB-402
授課教師:
Philip Ross / Joep Frens From TU/e, Netherland
In the Designing Quality in Interaction group at Eindhoven University of Technology, we investigate how to design for meaningful interaction, following a research through design approach. We position ourselves in the frameworks of Rich Interaction [1] and Aesthetic Interaction [2].
In this workshop
- We aim to provide insight and develop skills for designing within these frameworks.
- We provide a hands-on workshop where the participants learn through doing.
- We submerge the participants in our approach.
- The participants explore form, interaction, and function through actual, interactive prototyping.
The participants explore interaction qualities and integrate them in interactive prototypes.

師資簡介;
Joep Frens was born on the 11th of September, 1974 in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. After obtaining his master degree in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands) he went to Switzerland to pursue a career in research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. He returned to the Netherlands as a PhD student. In 2006 he received a doctoral diploma from the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (the Netherlands) on a thesis called: ‘Designing for Rich Interaction: Integrating Form, Interaction, and Function’. Presently he is assistant professor at the same university. He teaches several courses at bachelor and master level and continues his research on designing for interaction. In the recent past he has been invited for teaching and lecturing to the USA (CMU), Germany (HFGSG), and South-Korea (KAIST).
Philip Ross was born in Deurne, the Netherlands on the 21st of May 1978. He studied Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. In 2003, he received his Master’s degree cum laude with the design research project ‘Making atmospheres tangible: A research-through-design approach for designing a tangible, expressive product’. The project’s final design was awarded the ‘ZH Vormgevingsprijs’, a Dutch student design competition. In 2004, Ross started at the department of Industrial Design at TU/e as PhD candidate. During the spring semester of 2006, he was a visiting researcher and teacher at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design in Pittsburgh, USA. He received his PhD degree cum laude in December 2008, with the thesis ‘Ethics and aesthetics in intelligent product and system design’. This thesis explored how to incorporate ethics in design of intelligent systems, focusing on interactive lighting systems. A resulting interactive LED lamp design was awarded an STW Valorisation Grant, a stimulation grant for commercialisation. Philip Ross currently works as assistant professor in the Designing Quality in Interaction group at the Eindhoven Industrial Design department. Next to his work at the university, Philip is a passionate Jazz guitar player.
